Brilliant flowers, cooling mists, bells ringing in the breeze. Wat Saket is my favorite temple in Bangkok.
It was my last day in Bangkok and I hadn’t planned out how I would spend it. I looked online at lists of things to do and came across a temple I had not yet visited – Wat Saket, the Golden Mount.
Wat Saket has a small entrance fee. Once paid, you head up the stairs. It was April, and so the temperature was brutal. Wat Saket has a lot of stairs, but it was completely worth it, even under the scorching sun.
While climbing the stairs, you pass by waterfalls and luscious green plants, with golden statues and sculptures tucked back among them.
Parts of the stairs have overhanging plants with brilliant flowers. There was a fine mister blowing along the way, just enough to cool down a bit.
Once at the top, you can see across the rooftops of Bangkok; a stunning view!
At the top I was able to take in the view, and also watch these young novices playing with the gong. As an added bonus, there was free Wifi at the top!
Despite the long climb, Wat Saket is beautiful. To be honest, with so much beauty around me, the climb didn’t seem bad at all. There were few people there, and it was a peaceful, calming place. Bells, gongs, flowing water and bright flowers; I loved this amazing temple.
