Isle Royale National Park

I finally found ripe thimbleberries as I hiked on Isle Royale’s Greenstone Ridge Trail from South Lake Desor to Hatchet Lake. The Hatchet Lake campground is peaceful and secluded.

I leave Windigo on the Greenstone Ridge Trail to South Lake Desor. It’s a long day, but the tree-covered trail is much easier than the Minong.

My rest day on Isle Royale was spent at Windigo doing laundry, cleaning up, and watching moose.

I’ve got two more beaver dam crossings and some big climbs to make it to Windigo, where I have the lowest moment of my trip.

After a gorgeous sunrise at N. Lake Desor, I hit the Minong Ridge Trail toward Windigo. Ridge views, beaver dam crossings, and more!

I continue on the Minong Ridge Trail to North Lake Desor. There are some steep climbs, but they are offset with amazing views!

I pack up my wet tent and hit the Minong Ridge Trail from Little Todd Harbor to N. Lake Desor, enjoying the magnificent views from the Minong Ridge.

I enjoy the beach at Little Todd Harbor until a massive storm cloud rolls across Lake Superior, and I take shelter in my tent.
